As an Extension Professor of Entomology, Dr. Nolan had statewide responsibility for poultry, livestock, pets, household, structural, medical, industrial and institutional Extension Entomology programs. As such, he prepared publications and conducted educational programs that addressed the ‘entomological pests’ affecting the management of these programs. Also, he conducted numerous field trials and result demonstrations targeting the management of arthropods and other unwanted pests which attack animals, as well as those ‘pests’ which invade and damage poultry and livestock rearing and processing facilities and human habitations and businesses.
In recent years, he focused his efforts on the arthropods and related pests that affect poultry egg and meat production. He also targeted various arthropods that infest homes, industrial and institutional buildings as well as those arthropods that damage building materials.
